Autumn Term

Welcome to Riddings Junior School Year 3!

We can already tell that this is going to be a fantastic year due to how well you have already settled in. We have lots of exciting and fun things to learn about this term and can't wait to get started.

Units of Learning this Term:

We are going to start the year with The Stone Age where you will learn about life as an early human, the challenges they faced and the achievements they made. You will even become archaeologists for the day, where you will explore Stone Age artefacts!

 Things to Look Forward to:

Throughout the year, you will get the chance at different points to experience: Forest School, PE, Drumming and some educational trips. Please find below our attached Forest School timetable and key dates for PE.

Forest School Timetable

 Key Dates for PE:

Tuesday pm - Eaton and Hilton

Friday pm - Hilton and Shrewsbury

Learning at Home:

Please aim to hear your child read three times weekly. Reading diaries will be used to communicate between home and school and will be checked regularly.

Please encourage your child to practise their times tables on TT Rock Stars and practise their key Maths skills on Numbots.

Please practise spellings weekly on Spelling Frame in preparation for the spelling test on Friday. Spelling lists will be stuck in their Reading Diaries and available on their account on the Spelling Frame website.

Each week, your child will bring home either their CGP Maths or English homework books, where one workout per week will be expected to be completed with support if needed. These will be handed out on a Thursday and back in school for the following Wednesday, ready to be marked in class.

If you're looking for some creative ways to extend your child's learning on The Stone Age, please follow the link below. Please note, this is optional, however we do love to see what you get up to at home!
