The Pupil Premium was introduced in 2011 and is a specific grant based on school figures for pupils who are registered as eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) or who have accessed FSM in any year of compulsory schooling (Ever 6).

Pupils who are Looked-After Children (LAC) are also eligible for Pupil Premium Plus funding.  

An additional premium has also been introduced for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces.

The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and will be used by this school to address any underlying inequalities and enable pupils to make positive progress.

Objectives for the Pupil Premium Grant in Riddings Junior School

1. The Pupil Premium will be used to provide additional educational support to improve the progress and raise the standard of achievement for eligible pupils.

2. The funding will be used to narrow and close the gap between the achievement of eligible pupils and their peers.

3. The school will use the additional funding to address any identified underlying educational inequalities between children eligible for Pupil Premium and others.

4. The additional funding will reach the pupils who need it most and we are determined that it makes a significant impact upon their education and life chances.

School Policy and Accountability

The Head Teacher and governing body have agreed a policy for Pupil Premium to guide the use of funds and to ensure that it represents good value for money.

The Head Teacher and leadership team will monitor, evaluate and review the strategies we have put into place for the Pupil Premium Grant and report on its impact to the governing body and parents. A member of the Governing Body – Mrs Vikki Neaves - is assigned to monitor the impact of PPG spending.

All staff are aware of who the children entitled to pupil premium are and ensure that all they benefit from the funding, not just those who are under performing.
