At Riddings Junior School, we are committed to supporting all staff to be able to carry out their professional responsibilities as effectively as possible. Managing workload to ensure well-being is a prime consideration in all decision making as we know happy, well-balanced, supported, supportive staff are best placed to give our children the education and experiences they deserve. Wherever possible, we look to reduce workload. Where this is not possible, we look at ways to manage it - our own and others' - in healthy, efficient and self-sustaining ways.
We do not reduce our workload by adding to someone else's.
Our PRIDE ethos reflected in the Trust's Family, Integrity, Teamwork, Success motto and LoveLearningLoveLife hashtag applies to staff as well as children.
PRIDE is well established and clearly understood so behaviour and behaviours for learning are good. SLT are visible and actively support children to make positive choices and recognise the consequences of poor decisions. They provide additional cover at lunch and breaktime.
Joint year group PPA is protected by timetabling it Tuesdays to Thursdays thus avoiding bank holidays and usual Inset days. Year groups plan in ways to support their teaching without expected formats and we focus on high quality sequenced units of Learning rather than individual daily lesson plans. Additional planning time is built into the annual diary to support developmental work.
Paperwork is kept to a minimum and is developed and agreed as a school and a trust.
We are well-resourced to support teaching and learning.
Desktop computers are provided in each teaching area whilst all teachers are issued with their own laptop and ipad. Most teaching assistants have a laptop or ipad with these being gradually issued on a rolling programme.
All staff are entitled to continuous professional development. We have dedicated, paid weekly CPD, Riddings Rambles and release time for all staff. All staff also have access to trust and local authority training whilst apprenticeships and further study are supported.
We have an open culture where staff are encouraged to share concerns and worries. We fund access for all to a staff wellbeing package which has recently been rolled out trust-wide and we are committed to supporting each other to attend those important life moments.
We're proud to work at Riddings Junior so, if you think you can add to our school, please check out the vacancies below.
