Summer Term 2024
This half term our main topic will be the United Kingdom, where we will be discovering what makes our county so special. We will be looking at human and physical features. We will draw all this information together to produce a persuasive leaflet.
In English, we have been learning how to use vocabulary effectively to show how characters feel and incorporate dialogue to help move a narrative on.
We will be focussing on developing our sentence structures by incorporating relative clauses and subordinating conjunctions. We will also write two extended pieces based on short films.
In Maths, we will be looking at properties of shapes, particularly focusing on angles. We will also be adding to our decimal knowledge before moving on to converting units.
In Science, we will be learning about the life cycles of mammals, amphibians, insects and birds. We will also be learning about the life process of reproduction in some plants and animals.
In Book Study, we will be reading 'There's a boy in the girls' bathroom' by Louis Sachar.
'Bradley Chalker is a boy who struggles with behaviour and is seen as a problem child by his peers and teachers. The story follows his journey of self-discovery and acceptance, with the help of a school counsellor who believes in him.'
Exciting things to look forward to:

Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please arrive to school in your PE kit. This does not need to be changed during the day. Please can we emphasise that PE kit should be plain black joggers/shorts/ hoodies without any logos.
We will also be continuing our work on Latin and continuing to look at word class and sentence order. We have been really impressed by the enthusiasm so far!
In RE, we will be looking at places of worship, religious art and charities supported by religion. We will be looking at how people from different faiths express their beliefs in these ways.
