Riddings Junior School Poppy Appeal
Thu 22 Sep 2022For some time we have been considering another way of involving the whole school community in commemorating Remembrance Day as we do each year. Mrs Elwen has proposed that as a community we aim to produce a curtain of poppies that will decorate the front of school during November this year (as you can see in her sketch).
The idea is that as a Riddings community we will aim to produce as many knitted, crocheted or fabric poppies as possible to create at least one curtain.
In school we will aim to get the children to produce their own but want to ask you, as members of the community, if you would turn your hand to making a poppy - or two - or three or…… to add to the collection.
We will have a poppy-ometer in school to collect finished poppies on it so we know what we are aiming for.
I’m sure that like me your first reaction will be ‘I can’t do that!’ but Mrs Elwen has some knitting and crochet patterns available and if Tom Daley can become a knitting sensation in his spare time there is no excuse for the rest of us!
You can find the knitting/crochet patterns here on our 'Poppy Appeal' page.
