Spring Term 2026
This half term, we’ll be heading deep into the rainforest on an exciting adventure full of discovery! We’ll find out where rainforests are located around the world, explore the different layers of the rainforest from the forest floor to the emergent layer, and uncover amazing facts about the plants and animals that live there. We’ll also learn why rainforests are so important to our planet and investigate what deforestation is and how it affects wildlife and people. Get ready to become rainforest explorers and dive into the heart of the jungle! 🌿🦜

In English, we’ll be using our imagination and writing skills to create clear, engaging instructions on how to survive a thrilling trek through the rainforest, thinking carefully about what a reader would need to know. We’ll then use our knowledge of the opening of The Explorer and our topic learning to write an exciting narrative of our own. Alongside this, we’ll practise rich descriptive writing inspired by village life in Anglo-Saxon times, using powerful vocabulary to paint vivid pictures for the reader.
In Maths, we’ll be developing our understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages, exploring how they link together and are used in everyday life. We’ll also practise written methods for multiplication and division to build accuracy and confidence. Alongside this, we’ll be learning how to calculate area and perimeter, using our skills to solve a range of practical problems and become confident, skilled mathematicians.

In History, we’ll be travelling back in time to learn about the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings, exploring who they were and how they lived. We’ll discover what life was like in Anglo-Saxon villages, learn about Viking raids and settlements, and compare the two groups to understand their impact on Britain. Through stories, sources and discussion, we’ll bring this fascinating period of history to life.
We’re excited to let you know that Bikeability will be taking place in March! 🚲 This fun and practical programme will help children build confidence, improve their cycling skills, and learn how to stay safe while riding on the road. Alongside this, in Music, the children will be learning to play the steel pans, exploring rhythm and sound in a lively and enjoyable way. More details will be shared closer to the time—get ready for lots of pedalling, learning and fun! 🎶🥁
